Description
At 11,000 kilometers, Amprion GmbH operates the longest transmission grid in Germany. We transport electricity for more than 29 million people in an area stretching from Lower Saxony to the Alps. We operate our grid with voltage levels of 380 and 220 kilovolts. Our top priority is to transmit electricity safely, reliably and cost-effectively at all times. Our approximately 1,300 employees use their expertise to achieve this.
As part of the energy transition, we are expanding our grid in line with demand. In doing so, we are placing a particular focus on implementation that is as environmentally friendly as possible. This is because we plan, build and operate our grid under the premises of economic and ecological sustainability. We see this as part of our corporate responsibility. One of our goals is to preserve the diversity of existing habitats for plants and animals. For this reason, observing bird protection criteria is a matter of course for us and is an integral part of the approval process for grid expansion.
In addition, Amprion developed measures for a comprehensive bird protection program two decades ago. We have been implementing it continuously and successfully in dialog with the authorities and nature conservation associations ever since.
